Sherman, the five-time Pro Bowl cornerback who won the Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks in 2014, was arrested on Saturday morning after being pulled over for driving 79mph in a 60mph zone.

The 35-year-old is said to have confessed to drinking two margaritas before getting behind the wheel, while a police report also described his eyes as looking ‘bloodshot and watery’ at the time.

After being taken to King County Correctional Facility at around 4:30am, he spent the weekend there before being put in front of a judge on Monday, who set his bail at $5,000.

According to TMZ Sports, that sum was no problem for an ex-player who made millions over the course of his career, meaning Sherman was released two days on from his initial arrest.

Nevertheless, as well as being $5,000 lighter, the Compton-born man has been placed on a strict alcohol and marijuana ban.

Sherman may also have one of his previous run-ins with law resurface on the back of his latest arrest.

Back in March 2022, the Seahawks legend was sentenced to 24 months of monitored supervision after pleading guilty to criminal trespassing and negligent driving.

Just weeks before he was due to finish his sentence, Saturday’s arrest for DUI could force that case to be revisited.

A member of the NFL’s all-decade team for the 2010a, Sherman was a five-time Pro Bowl selection and three-time first-team All-Pro defensive back.

The 35-year-old met his bail of $5,000 before being released in Seattle on Monday

Selected in the fifth round by Seattle out of Stanford, he played 11 NFL seasons for the Seahawks (2011-17), San Francisco 49ers (2018-20) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2021).

He recorded 37 interceptions, returned three for touchdowns, forced five fumbles and recovered seven while totaling 495 tackles in 144 games (136 starts).

The leader of the Seahawks’ ‘Legion of Boom’ secondary, he won Super Bowl XLVIII with Seattle over the Denver Broncos in the 2013 season.

Sherman has been an analyst for Amazon Prime Thursday night pregame and postgame shows for two seasons, and he joined Fox Sports’ ‘Undisputed’ talk show in 2023.
